The best photo editing apps for travellers

When you’re out there exploring the world, your mobile phone is often the easiest and most convenient camera. And nowadays, the cameras on our phones are so good, most people probably wouldn’t be able to tell if a shot was taken on a DSLR or a mobile. While our phones can take great photos, can they also be used as a decent photo editor? The answer is yes! There are so many photo editing apps out there that it can be difficult to know which ones are worth downloading. We have made it easy for you, compiling the best photo editing apps for travellers, into one place.

5. Pixlr

Pixlr started out as a free, alternative to Photoshop, online photo editor before they released their own mobile app. The app even received the editors’ choice on the Google Play store. The app has all the basic adjustment tools you will need and while it isn’t as advanced as some of the other editing apps on this list it is still worth a download because of its ease of use. Best of all this app is free.

4. Instasize

Instasize is a basic photo editing app designed mainly for editing images to be posted on Instagram. The app was originally created for cropping photos to fit on Instagram, but now it also offers editing features through presets and filters. This app is great for basic adjustments, cropping and adding colours to the white backgrounds. This app is free but you also have the option to upgrade to a premium version.

3. Adobe Photoshop Express

The Photoshop Express app is basically a condensed, mobile app version of the desktop Photoshop software. Photoshop Express is best used for basic edits on your photos, like cropping and basic filters. The app also offers more manual settings but they aren’t as effective as some of the other apps on this list.

VSCO is one of the best photo editing apps on the market right now. It has been downloaded more than 10,000,000 times and holds the editors’ choice symbol on the Google Play Store. The app doubles up as a social media network used by professional mobile photographers and bloggers. The app contains a host of filters and presets and manual editing controls and is free to download.

1. Snapseed

Snapseed is the best and most powerful photo editing app available today. To edit, open an image in the app and start tweaking the basics like contrast and brightness or also the more advanced features like the HDR-scape to boost your landscape photos while the Face filter gives you more control over things like skin tone. This app has an easy to use design, was editors’ choice and is also free to download.
